AADM Hosts First 2018 Athens Black Market
Athens, Ga – The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is excited to present the next edition of Athens Black Market at Little Kings Shuffle Club on March 3 at 2 pm. The event will begin with the discussion panel,”Is starting a business right for you?” that will include a Q&A portion focused on advice about marketing, starting and/or growing a small business. Afterward, attendees can explore the Vendors Marketplace – an outside fair of different businesses with variety soul and Caribbean cuisine, jewelry and artwork – until 6 pm.
Award-winning Mehrsa Baradaran, writer of The Color of Money: Black Banks and The Racial Wealth Gap is one of two featured guest speakers. Athens native Grady Martin, a member of the Eastern Athens Development Corporation, will make a return appearance. With widely different credentials, both have a history in the study or practice of minority entrepreneurship and AADM is thankful for their participation in this event.
Athens Black Market, a resource created by AADM leaders Mokah and Knowa Johnson, is designed to support minority business owners, startups, and encourage black entrepreneurship by providing both a marketplace and educational programming. Over a period of time, one business can potentially serve a community’s need for job opportunities and tax revenue.
