Latest sticker campaign to target more downtown businesses
Athens, Ga – The number of businesses involved in the “United Against Discrimination” sticker
campaign has swelled to more than 58 businesses in the heart of downtown area – a list that is
only expected to grow. On April 19, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement will meet at the
downtown Gyro Wrap at 2 pm to conduct its latest canvassing trip.
The idea behind the campaign, launched by AADM President Mokah Johnson, was to create a
clear indicator for patrons of which businesses were willing to welcome everyone regardless of
race, age, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, etc. Debra Brenner, the current project
leader, came to the campaign later and wants to see a Downtown Athens fully committed anti-
discrimination.
“On Thursday, we will be distributing an additional 14 stickers to those that have communicated
via phone or email. There are still a number of businesses that we have yet to contact so if your
business is one of them, be patient. We will get to you soon,” Brenner said.
