2025 Athens MLK Jr. Parade and Music Fest. Get Involved!
Theme: “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Athens, GA – The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) and United Group of Artists Music Association (UGAMA) proudly present the Annual Athens MLK Jr. Day Parade and Music Fest, honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and promoting culture and diversity in downtown Athens. This vibrant and inspiring community event will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, festivities begin 2:00 PM and the parade starts at 3:00 PM on the corner of (Hull and Washington) downtown Athens, Georgia.
This year’s theme, “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right”, encapsulates Dr. King’s enduring message of justice, unity, and action. AADM and UGAMA invite individuals, schools, nonprofits, and organizations from Athens and surrounding counties—Barrow, Jackson, Oconee, Madison, and beyond—to join this celebration of equality, diversity, and community through music, art, and civic engagement.
2025 Athens MLK Jr. Day Parade and Music Fest Details:
Time:
- 12:00 PM: Vendor Setup & Check-in infront of Morton Theater, 195 W. Washington St, Athens, GA 30601 (must be completed by 2:00 PM)
- 2:00 PM: Parade Participant Check-in & line up on Hancock Ave and Hull Street
- 3:00 PM: Parade Begins on the corner of Hull Street and Washington Street
Parade Guidelines:
- Participants must walk in groups of five or more.
- Signage reflecting the theme or promoting positive messages and causes is encouraged.
- Floats, Cars and motorbikes welcomed
Activities & Entertainment:
- Family-friendly activities and live performances
- A special screening of the AADM documentary “Changing the Narrative: Stories of Black and Minority Entrepreneurs”
