Theme: “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Athens, GA – The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) and United Group of Artists Music Association (UGAMA) proudly present the 2025 Annual Athens MLK Jr. Day Parade and Music Fest, honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This vibrant and inspiring community event will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM in downtown Athens, Georgia.
This year’s theme, “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right”, encapsulates Dr. King’s enduring message of justice, unity, and action. AADM and UGAMA invite individuals, schools, nonprofits, and organizations from Athens and surrounding counties—Barrow, Jackson, Oconee, Madison, and beyond—to join this celebration of equality, diversity, and community through music, art, and civic engagement.
As part of this year’s festivities, AADM will host a pre-event, the Social Justice Awards and Gala, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 6:00–9:00 PM. This elegant evening will honor AADM supporters, recognize outstanding community service, and pay tribute to Athens’ African American elders whose contributions have paved the way for progress.
Participants, including schools, churches, dance teams, nonprofits, and other community groups, are encouraged to join the celebration. Vendors are also invited to showcase their goods and services during the event.
