Public rallies and protests are central to Athens’ culture of community activism.

Volunteer marshals play an important role in helping to keep participants safe. However, more marshals are needed to support the many events taking place around our city each month.

Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) is coordinating with Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition (AIRC) and the Athens Mutual Aid Network to offer an EVENT MARSHAL TRAINING online Friday, November 20, from 10–11:30 a.m.

The training will be led by AIRC coordinator Beto Mendoza and Movimiento Cosecha

organizer Brenda Valladares. It will cover the responsibilities of being an event marshal as well as strategies for de-escalating tense situations.
