Black History Month Events
The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) has some great community events planned each Saturday during Black History Month!
February 6, 12:30 – 3:00 pm: Movie and Discussion
Join us in person or online as we stream John Lewis: Good Trouble, and discuss the life and legacy of US Representative John Lewis, who dedicated his life to fighting for civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health care reform, and immigration.
February 13, 12:30 – 3:00 pm: Poets & Black Authors
Join us in person or online as we showcase the intellectual and talent of local poets and Black authors! More details to come, so stay tuned!
February 20, 12:30 – 3:00 pm: Women’s Empowerment Discussion: Breaking Racial Barriers, “Cracking the Code,” courtesy of LWN
Join us in person or online for an educational, supportive, and encouraging conversation centered around race to help us better understand one another and propel social change. More details will be announced soon, so stay tuned!
February 27, 12:30 – 3:00 pm: Teen Social Justice Club Open House
Join us in person or online for the TSJ Club Open House! The TSJ Club was designed to cultivate leaders, build self confidence, and to teach students new skills and how to advocate for themselves and their rights. More details will be released soon!
If you’d like to join us in person at our Justice Center for these events, please be aware that only 10 people will be admitted into the Justice Center at a time. All visitors are required to wear a mask and social distance.
