Athens, Ga. – Join us August 11th, 2 pm for the Athens Youth Photo Voice Showcase at Cine Athens. Through Art, advocacy, activism and research various students will tell their story about “What they like about Athens, Georgia or “Would like to change” by combining various photo’s and storytelling-audio.
This new project is funded by the Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation. The organization selected Michael Robinson, associate professor in the School of Social Work, to implement 2019-2020 photovoice project.
Photovoice projects are a form of social activism that combine photography, discussion, descriptive text and public exhibits to address community issues. Robinson enlisted local activist Mokah-Jasmine Johnson and AADM Teen Social Justice Program to support this project and enlist youth to express through photography their views of the community in which they live. In partnership, they will host phase 1 of Athens Youth Photo voice showcase. August 12th- 2pm @ Cine 234 W Hancock Ave, Athens, GA 30601
