For Immediate Release:
Saturday, June 23, 2018, Athens Poor Peoples Campaign National Call for Moral Revival Sibling-Rally will be held at the UGA Arch. Join us at 10 am to Stand Against Poverty. Envision Athens reported that “Athens Clarke County has a 36.7 percent poverty rate that falls to 28.4 percent without UGA students inclusion making Athens the 4th poorest County in Georgia. Poverty is crippling the black and Latino community, thus AADM believes it’s vital for Athens Clarke County residents to support the “Poor Peoples Campaign National Call for Moral Revival.”
“In the face of systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation, war economy/militarism, and distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism— We must engage in mass nonviolent moral direct action. We must have mass voter registration and mobilization. And we must engage in mass power building in poor and low wealth communities declaring We Won’t Be Silent Anymore!!!!!”
Join us as we show our elected leaders we will no longer allow attention violence to keep poor and disenfranchised people down. To show your support please RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/223801151545916/
