The Classic City Juneteenth Music & Arts Fest is a vibrant, community-centered celebration honoring the legacy of Juneteenth through music, culture, art, food, wellness, education, and Black economic empowerment.
Hosted by the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement and United GA Entertainment, the festival will take place on June 20th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Georgia Square Mall in Athens.

What to Expect?
12:00 PM – Vendor & Community Partner Setup
Vendors, community organizations, exhibitors, and participants arrive and set up.
All setup must be completed by 3:00 PM.

3:00 PM – Opening Ceremony & Welcome
Join us as we officially open the festival with a warm welcome to attendees, community leaders, sponsors, vendors, performers, and guests.
We will recognize Juneteenth as a celebration of freedom, resilience, culture, and community.
3:05 PM – Libation Ceremony
Presented by Dr. Ojo
A sacred moment to honor our ancestors, freedom fighters, and those whose sacrifices paved the way for future generations.

3:10 PM – Juneteenth Reflection & Freedom Bell Ringing Ceremony
This special ceremony highlights the history and significance of Juneteenth while honoring Athens' rich Black history and contributions. The Freedom Bell symbolizes the delayed yet enduring promise of freedom announced on June 19, 1865.
3:15 PM – Community Freedom Commitment
A collective affirmation celebrating freedom, unity, justice, and responsibility to future generations. Community members are invited to participate in a shared pledge and commitment to building a stronger future.
3:20 PM – Juneteenth Freedom walk
Participants will gather for the annual Freedom Walk.

An interactive cultural experience featuring African drumming and dance.

Location: inside Northeast Georgia Northeast Chamber of Commerce. A moderated community conversation focused on preserving progress, protecting civil rights, and building collective power.
4:30 PM - Community Public Art Project
Create, reflect, and contribute to a collective vision of freedom.
Written reflections and artistic expression
Live DJ providing music throughout the activity
This project will remain open for participation throughout the festival.
4:30 PM – 7:00 PM Live Performance Showcase
